She Murdered Her 5-Year-Old Son, Now She’s Asking For Special Treatment In Prison

A woman convicted for murder after poisoning her young son in order to get attention is not having an easy time in prison. A biographer interviewed her recently and she revealed that the other inmates are making her life miserable.

Lacey Spears, 28, is getting a hefty dose of karma in prison. The mommy blogger who made her son, 5-year-old Garnett, sick to gain attention is receiving it now in abundance. Unfortunately for her, it's not the sympathy and praise she so craved.

Spears accidentally killed Garnett by giving him an overdose of salt. Inmates aware of her notorious case have been dumping large amounts of salt packets on her food and throwing it at her. Many also harass and threaten her.

The mom still insists she's innocent. “I didn’t hurt him,” she said to CBS News’ 48 Hours in an interview. “I never poisoned him with salt.”

Spears was a babysitter for at least three other single mothers before giving birth to Garnett, and all three children came down with mysterious illnesses while in her care.

Prison guards have offered to put Spears in protective custody, which would mean she would spend her life in a cell alone and kept away from the general population. For this attention seeker, that would be even more frightening than facing the bullying and threats.
