Sergeant Tries To Scare Boy Into Acting Better - Then He Reveals Why He Acts Out

A drill sergeant went on a talk show to help whip an out-of-control child into shape. The drill sergeant started acting tough with the kid, but then the kid said something that made the hardened military man break.

Drill Sergeant Raymond Moses was running a boot camp called 'About Face,' and he tried to help turn troubled kids around. He was invited onto a talk show to help one mom who was at her wits' end with her 10-year-old son. The unruly, disrespectful little boy was driving the mom crazy and she felt this was her last resort.

Moses met the little boy and started his drill sergeant routine. The boy stood at full attention like a good soldier as Moses shouted about how the boy's mother needs more respect.

"You're not an adult until you're 18. Do you want me to be your daddy for the next eight years, son?" Moses shouted in the boy's face.

It was meant to be a threat to get the boy to shape up - everyone expected the boy to say that he certainly did not want Moses on his back for eight more years. But the boy just quietly said, "Yes, sir."

Moses was about to keep up with the routine but he was sidetracked by the little guy's answer. "You do? Why do you want me to be your daddy?"

"I have no daddy," the boy told him.

Moses broke, smiled at the boy, and gave him a hug. All the boy was looking for was someone to give him the guidance and structure that kids need to thrive, and the young man was smart enough to know a good thing when he saw it.

Moses and the young boy walked off stage together. This event happened 10 years ago, but it's just as relevant today. There are still kids who are looking for just that kind of leader to help them stay on track.
