School Punishes Girl For Wearing A See-Through Shirt Braless - What Do You Think? (Photos)

A high school student in Alabama went to school with a shirt that was perfectly within dress code requirements. She was stunned when she was called to the office for a violation. It turned out there was nothing wrong with the shirt, but what was underneath the shirt.

Kaitlyn Juvik, a senior, says her school told her she violated a dress code by not wearing a bra. The problem is, there is no dress code on the school books about undergarments. Principal Steve Thennis wouldn't elaborate on the violation, but he did tell the teen girl that people expressed discomfort over how she was dressed.

“What I was confronted about was wrong," said Juvik to MTN. “...The fact that I was told it makes people uncomfortable offended me because it’s my body... It is my natural body and I’m not sure why that is uncomfortable to somebody.”

KXLH aired a story about the teen, Juvik's mother posted her support on the station's Facebook page. "I stand behind my daughter 100%! I am very proud of the point she is trying to make and the movement that she and her friends have created. This movement is not just about wearing/not wearing a bra. Our daughters are body shamed and sexualized on a daily basis. We need to teach them to be comfortable in their own skin and not feel like they have to hide under their clothes," she wrote.

Students are now protesting; female students are coming to school without bras, while male students are showing up with bras on over their shirts.

According to Thennis, the request for Juvik to cover up was not meant to be personal. "We are going to ask them to dress appropriately and if we feel it is inappropriate, male or female, we are going to ask them to cover up,” he said.
