School Makes Frightening Mistake And Releases Child To Adult He Doesn’t Know

Knowing that their children are safe when they send them off to school is one of the most important things on most parents wish lists. According to MadWorldNews, this South Carolina school may want to brush up on their security policies.

An unidentified South Carolina mother received an unexpected phone call from the Edisto Primary School in Cordova, where her child is a student. It turns out that the school had released the child from school that day to the custody of another adult – one that the child didn’t even now.

Thankfully, it turned out to be a simple case of mistaken identity. Joseph Fuller, a 65-year-old man, had visited the school to pick up his grandson to spend the day with him. He mistook the child for his grandson when he saw a group of children exiting the gymnasium, and hugged the child, who was understandably confused. The pair strolled to the office where Fuller was able to sign him out.

Fuller’s wife realized the mistake pretty quickly.

“He had a tooth missing in the front, and I know my grandson did not have a tooth missing in the front,” she said.

They returned the child to school, and the boy’s mother was able to look past the unfortunate mistake. The boy’s father, Darrin Pressley, was not quite as understanding.

“If they didn’t bring him back, my son could’ve been gone. It’s gross negligence on the school’s part. My thing is, you know, have a prevention so this could never happen again,” Pressley said.
