Restaurant Manager Denies Service To Officer For A Strange Reason

Officer Brian Radford of the Mounds Police Department in Tulsa decided to have a meal at the popular Redrock Canyon Grill. He was wearing a police polo shirt, slacks and his police belt that holds his weapon. Yet, instead of being greeted with a warm welcome, an unnamed employee immediately refused to serve him.

The manager told the officer that his service weapon was inappropriate for the eatery and against company policy. He even went on to say that the officer would not be served while wearing it.

The manager thought that Redrock Canyon Grill was a gun-free zone, including for service members. Radford was shocked for being turned away for such an outrageous reason. If there was an emergency situation, he would be one of the first responders contacted.

The manager's boss was informed and said the manager misunderstood the actual weapons policy. The Grill immediately reached out to the police department to apologize.

The restaurant representative tried to explain it away by saying the manager was still in training on September 13 when Radford stopped by. The restaurant does have a no-weapons policy, but it does not apply to uniformed police officers.

Mounds Asst. Police Chief Craig Murray said, “They want to make sure the public’s aware that police officers can come, they can be armed and eat there."
