Ray Lewis Reveals Real Reason Why No One Will Sign Kaepernick

The NFL regular season is about to get under way, and Colin Kaepernick remains without a job. Supporters of Kaepernick claim that he’s being black balled from the league due to his antics from last season in which he refused to stand for the national anthem. Other observers have offered up a more pointed assessment that says his skills are in decline and he has unrealistic salary expectations. As the Daily Mail shares, a man that’s plugged in with a team that nearly signed Kaepernick has just revealed the reason the team ultimately passed.

Ray Lewis is one of the Baltimore Ravens' all-time great players, and he remains close with team ownership. He’s a commentator these days, and he appeared on Showtime’s ‘Inside the NFL’ as part of its season preview. The topic turned to Kaepernick, and Lewis noted that the Ravens were real close to striking a deal with him.

“We were going to close the deal to sign him. Steve Bisciotti said: 'I want to hear Colin Kaepernick speak to let me know that he wants to play football,'" Lewis explained. “It never happens because that picture comes up the next day.”

The picture in question was a post on social media from Kaepernick’s girlfriend, MTV host Nessa Diab.

“Diab is an MTV host and Hot 97 DJ who has dated Kaepernick for the past two years. She compared Bisciotti to a slave master and Lewis to one of his captives on Twitter after reports revealed they had hesitations about signing the football-playing free agent,” the Mail reports. “Diab, 36, did this by stacking an image of Lewis hugging Bisciotti after the 2012 Super Bowl on top of a remarkably similar one from the film 'Django Unchained.' That still showed the sycophantic senior house slave Stephen (played by Samuel L. Jackson) hugging his lecherous owner Calvin Candie (played by Leonardo Dicaprio), who in the film rapes and beats his staff.
Diab kept the caption simple, posting nothing but a bullseye emoji and Lewis' Twitter handle.”

Hmmm, and you wonder why another prospective employer looked the other way? There is zero reason to post something so incendiary on social media about a man that may very well be offering you a job. There’s zero reason to be posting that about anyone to begin with, but that’s a completely different kettle of fish.

Kaepernick wants to walk around and lament his plight, but he continues to do himself no favors. Supporters fall for his story hook, line, and sinker, but further examination of things reveal that Kaepernick has no one to blame but himself. If you carry yourself in a divisive fashion, employers are not going to be racing to acquire your services. That has absolutely nothing to do with race, but it has plenty to do with the ultimate interests of the team.

A competitive football squad requires focus from all of its parts. If that focus gets misdirected by a player that’s constantly looking to make headlines because he’s upset about something, the focus becomes all the more difficult. If Kaepernick really wants a job, he can take care of his various grievances on his own time and focus on getting his skills back up to the caliber they should be.
