This Ranger Almost Lived A Real Life Horror Story When He Saw This Cabin (PHOTOS)

On television and in movies we have only seen hidden cabins in the woods as something to be feared. It is where criminals hide out. It is where bad men take damsels in distress. It is where people go when they simply do not want to be around others. But when Mark Andre found a cabin in the woods, it was not what he expected.

One of the directors of the Arcata Environmental Services in California, Mark Andre was walking through the Arcata Community Forest, marking trees for work when he saw something peculiar. He stumbled upon a new structure that he had never seen before. It seemed to be a cabin in the middle of nowhere. The structure was completely and deliberately hidden by foliage.

Andre told local news, “I didn’t see it until I was 12 feet from it. It’s in the perfect out-of-the-way spot where it wouldn’t be detected.” There was a padlock on the door preventing Andre from getting a look inside. A group later returned to the cabin to open it and look inside. Forest Tech Nick Manfrendonia, Park Ranger Heidi Groszmann and a news reporter located the cabin again. They thought it was best to open the structure to make sure no one was hurt inside. However, the cabin was completely empty. It was quite clean on the inside, with a makeshift bed, living room and kitchen. It looked like a college dorm room in the outdoors. There was even a mini library with books like, "Catch Me If You Can" by Frank Abagnale and "Medicinal Plants of the Pacific West."

One particularly interesting poster they found on the wall read, “every community creates its own outlaws, and celebrates “those individuals, who, willingly or not, have not abided by the laws of the gods or authorities [and who] have always been banished.” Concluding, “we will carry our difference everywhere as individuals determined to subvert the rules of the community.” This gives an insight into the reclusive owner of the cabin.

More people affiliated with the park visited the cabin. It seemed to be untouched each time. Andre speculated the cabin was merely a seasonal retreat and it was off season. Unfortunately, the creator of the cabin was never found and it will be demolished soon as it is an illegal structure.
