Man Shocked To See Muslim Neighbor's Kind Gift To Honor Ramadan

Tensions are high across Great Britain in the wake of multiple terror attacks, and that’s opened up some new debates about immigration for the country as a whole. There are several different perspectives on what needs to be done to thwart more attacks, and that debate won’t be settled anytime soon.

In the meantime, tolerance and understanding are being encouraged for all residents, in addition to remaining alert and reporting anything suspicious.

As the New York Post shares, there’s an awesome example making the rounds to help promote the former concept. A Manchester resident has shared a touching post from his Muslim neighbor that was made in honor of Ramadan.

While the holiday has been in the headlines due to jihadists promoting it as a fantastic time to wreak havoc, the message shined some light on a completely different side of things.

“It’s Ramadhan. We at No 17 are opening our fast today and want to share our food,” the neighbor's message read. “Please join us today as we break our fast at sunset and say a prayer for the innocent lives lost in our country and all around the world.”

The neighbor would also take the time to post the real meaning of the holy month, and it has absolutely nothing to do with killing as many people as possible through terrorist activity. He notes that it’s a time for people to “reflect upon their lives in light of Islamic guidance.”

Additionally, there are a ton of other concepts associated with it that tend to get brushed over. The neighbor and other peaceful followers of the faith can thank the jihadists for that, as they have made reference to the holy month numerous times in propaganda materials.

“We are to make peace with those who have wronged us, strengthen ties with family, friends and our community, do away with bad habits - essentially clean up our lives, our thought and our feelings,” the neighbor wrote. “The Arabic word for ‘fasting’ (sawm) literally means ‘to refrain’ – and it means not only refraining from food and drink, but also from evil actions, thoughts and words.”

This is exactly the kind of post that can help spread some more understanding about the Muslim faith for those that may not be informed about it. In fairness to those that may be unaware about the faith, it’s pretty hard to see past the carnage and terror that has been wrought by jihadists in Manchester and London recently, and the actions of those deranged individuals do little to help promote tolerance.

That being said, all followers of the Muslim faith are not terrorists, so it’s important not to rush to judgment. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of your surroundings at all times and report suspicious things, but it does mean that you shouldn’t be expecting a terrorist attack every time you come across a Muslim.

In a perfect world, more people will take the lead of the neighbor who offered up a welcoming glimpse into his life.
