Pregnant Woman's Belly Keeps Growing Despite Giving Birth, Then Doctor's See It

A mother in St. Petersburg, Russia was about to give birth to her second child, and hoped to have a natural delivery. Due to the child's position, the doctors told her that a C-section was her best option. The mom had the surgery, and the baby was healthy, but the doctors made a mistake that nearly cost the mother of two her life.

Yulia Selina, 34, went in for her C-section, which is now a routine surgical procedure. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl and thought all was well. A few days later, the mom was sent home to recover and care for her children.

She didn't seem to be getting any better, though. In fact, the mother was getting progressively worse. “My belly started to swell. It even grew bigger than it was when I was 9 months pregnant. Every movement caused me horrible pain. At first, I thought it was just a natural reaction to the operation,” said Yulia, “but then I couldn’t even sit up anymore. The pain would make me scream,” Selina explained.

She reported her situation to doctors, but they told her that it was a natural recovery process for the surgery. The mother tried to trust them, but something inside of her told her something wasn't right. A day later, she was rushed to the hospital, and it turns out the doctors were wrong.

During the C-section, the doctors left an operating room sheet in her abdomen. Due to infection, the woman's body was filling up with pus. Surgeons pumped over half a gallon of disgusting pus from her belly.

“I understood that, if I waited any longer for the doctors to help me, my children would be left without a mother,” Selina says. “I’m trying, I want to forgive and excuse those who did this to me, but then I think about how my family could have lost me forever. I would like to settle this in a civilized way.”

Selina has retained a lawyer and her family is filing a suit against the hospital. She's hoping to be compensated for her pain and suffering, and is also hoping that the hospital will review its procedures to ensure nothing like this ever happens again.
