Preacher Attempts To Convert Inmates - Immediately Regrets It

A preacher's hateful speech wasn’t bad enough to land him in jail, but just putting him in with the general population wasn't good enough. Authorities are locking him up in a special wing so that no one will be around to hear this preacher's sermons.

Anjem Choudary, a Muslim preacher in the UK, was charged for trying to whip up support for the Islamic State. Authorities felt that putting him in the general population would just give Choudary the opportunity to radicalize other prisoners and build an army of terrorists. They've decided that the solution was to give him his own high-security prison wing.

The newly designed wing will cost taxpayers over $90,000 per year, but it will keep Choudary contained and prevent him from stirring up trouble. Choudary is already responsible for inspiring some 500 people to join jihad and they don't want those numbers increased.

“The rise of Islamist extremism poses an existential threat to our society," said Justice Secretary Liz Truss told The Sun, justifying the costs. “I am committed to confronting and countering the spread of this poisonous ideology behind bars."

As part of a de-radicalization campaign, multiple units are being prepared for extremists who might be suspected of trying to convert the prison population.
