Police Warn Women Not To Call 911 After Photo Goes Viral Online

As Hurricane Irma wreaked devastation along America’s east coast, entire police departments were mobilized to assist in the relief and recovery efforts. Usually, these brave men and women are overlooked by the general population. However, after pictures of several ‘hot cops’ began going viral, the starring officers from the Gainesville Police Department cannot get enough attention.

The bizarre story began when the Gainesville Police Department Facebook account uploaded photos of several police officers helping Florida-area residents prepare for Hurricane Irma. The photo was captioned: “[Officers Nordman, Hamill and Rengering are] part of the night crew getting ready to do some work. #Irma.”

Almost immediately, scores of women descended on the Gainesville Facebook page and began complimenting the police officers on their courage, professionalism and … appearance. The innocuous image quickly went viral and hundreds of women continued to gush over the police officers in the comments section.

"Y’all should do a calendar, where you’re half dressed, for charity," one woman commented, with another slyly replying, "I’m Charity and I approve this message". Another Facebook user joked, "I can’t believe how many women are objectifying these poor, fine, young, strong, handsome, brave, sexy, delicious, virile, ovulation-inducing, mouth-watering, beefy…. I can’t remember where I was going with this…."

As the social media obsession grew, the Gainesville photo accumulated more than 300,000 likes and over 100,000 comments. The picture of the roguish police officers even made national headlines on mainstream news channels.

In the wake of uneasy relations between cops and citizens, Gainesville police were overjoyed with the positive publicity. Many local police officers interacted with women in the comments section and played along with the raunchy comments. "We are dying with the comments. You’ve actually made our chief blush with some of them," wrote one of the Gainesville officers.

Commenters went crazy when another Gainesville officer revealed that two of the officers in the photo were married, writing: "MRS. Nordman and MRS. Hamill have also enjoyed knowing how millions of women are going crazy over their husbands. We can confirm that Officer Rengering (far right with the amazing hair) IS SINGLE." After a flurry of bawdy comments, the same officer later added: “On another note, Officer Rengering is being placed into Cougar Prey Protective Care, similar to the witness protection program for his safety.”

However, the administrator of the Gainesville Facebook account was forced to make a semi-serious statement when several women jokingly mentioned calling 9-11 with the aim of meeting one of the handsome cops. “Please do not call 9-1-1 and request this group respond to your 'incident,'" emphasized the Facebook administrator, before sneakily mentioning “There WILL be a calendar.”

Instead of distracting or annoying Gainesville police officers, the cheeky Facebook comments have given the police department a spark of joy during an exceedingly difficult time. "Thank you all for the hilarious comments… they have brightened our time up here. As for the calendar, we are going to try and do something fairly quickly and funds raised will go to Hurricane Irma recovery here in Florida."
