Police Sickened By Reason Man Gave For Beating Father

Assaulting another person is never ok. That’s especially true when it comes to members of your own family, but most folks have already been blessed with that dose of common sense. There’s no issue out there that doesn’t look vastly different with a little distance attached to it, and it’s always important to remember that fact. If you’re not making headway on a specific point or argument, it’s time to give it a breather before things escalate even further. When you really think about it, what good really comes from people yelling at the top of their lungs anyway?

The answer is not a whole lot. In fact, it opens up the risk of causing permanent scars that simply won’t heal. When people become that upset, they can easily say things they wouldn’t necessarily say while cooler heads were prevailing, and those things often aren’t very nice. Beyond the risk for verbal escalation, some folks can find themselves pushed over the edge. As such, they respond in a physical fashion. That opens up another can of worms entirely, and lives can be forever altered as a result.

While those thoughts are enough for many rational folks to adhere to the ‘walkaway’ principle, some folks are loose cannons that fly off the handle all the time. Those folks are not a bowl of cherries to be around in general, but sometimes they get seriously out of hand and do ridiculously unfathomable things. While there’s no rhyme or reason as to when and where it may happen, there’s plenty of instances in which it’s over something incredibly insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

As the New York Post shares, that certainly sounds like the case here. A 49-year-old man from Taylor, Pennsylvania felt that the best course of action was for him to beat the holy hell out of his 83-year-old father. Why in the world would he do such a thing? Here’s the simple answer: He didn't have dinner ready.

“Taylor Borough police say Frank Steinetz III beat Frank Steinetz Jr. after an argument Monday evening. Police say they responded after a neighbor heard screaming and called 911,” the Post reports. “Police say the older man was treated and released from a hospital for bruises to his arms, leg and large bruise on his face.”

After the cops responded, Steinetz III was hauled off and charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was brought to the Lackawanna County jail, but it’s unclear if he has raised a stink about meal policies at the jail as of yet.

While this is undoubtedly an extreme example courtesy of a grown man that has missed out on scores of life lessons along the way, it can also serve as Exhibit 1 and 1a on how not to behave when things don’t go your way. Assaulting a family member is beyond galling, let alone an elderly man that can’t properly defend himself.
