Police Sickened After Abusive Stepfather Explains Why He Tragically Beat Daughter With Coat Hanger

Some people are simply not meant to be parents or to care for children in any way, shape or form. Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop them from coming in contact with children, and the results can sometimes be truly horrifying. As the Daily Mail reports, Jamarius Devonti Graham, a 21-year-old resident of Jacksonville, Florida, has been arrested for the beating death of his girlfriend’s daughter.

Graham was caring for the two-year-old child while his girlfriend was at work. The toddler had an accident and soiled the bed, and that resulted in Graham striking the child. He told the girl’s mother that he had belted her when he spoke to her, but he claimed it wasn’t that hard.

Turns out that it was pretty damn hard, as the child would pass away. What’s more, the child was struck multiple times, as she was found to have multiple traumatic injuries to her head, torso and extremities, as well as fluid and swelling to the lungs and brain.

Even more disturbingly, the mother would return home, and the pair would wait more than an hour before seeking medical attention for the child. When they finally brought the child to the hospital, the mom lied at first and claimed her daughter was being watched by another babysitter. She has not been charged as of yet, but Graham has been arrested and booked.

“The aggravated child abuse charge against Graham carries with it a 30-year maximum and reflects the findings of the Medical Examiner's Office, which indicated the cause and manner of death could not be determined,” said David Chapman, a spokesman for the State Attorney's Office.

Under questioning, Graham admitted to spanking the girl 20 times with a belt and a plastic hanger. The mother says that she normally would have left the child in the care of her biological father, but he was unavailable to care for his daughter on that day.
