Police Shoot Man While Resisting Arrest - Here's Why No One Is Rioting
Another young man was killed by police on what would otherwise have been a routine traffic stop. The shooting was caught entirely on police body cam and is eerily similar to recent shootings of young men. This time, however, no one is saying anything.
Dylan Noble, 19, was recently killed by police after his truck was pulled over. His case is remarkably similar to the case of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.
In all three cases, police received a call that a young man was spotted with a gun. In all three cases, police approached the suspect. Noble was driving when police tried to pull him over. At first he gave chase, but eventually he did stop the vehicle.
Also in all three cases, the young men completely ignored police instructions. In Noble's case, he refused to put his hands outside of the vehicle when police demanded, and he exited the vehicle when they told him not to do so. He also held a hand obscured behind his back when police asked him to put his hands up.
Sadly, like Castile and Sterling, Noble was shot and killed when the situation escalated and he failed to comply with police instructions. However, the media are not giving Noble's death much attention, and activists are not stirring outrage over the attack.
There were a couple of differences that perhaps made all the difference. Unlike Castile and Sterling, Noble was not actually armed. And, this young man happened to be white.
Most who view the chilling footage of police body cam that shows Noble being shot and killed by police agree that force was justified. Perhaps his skin color has something to do with it—would people feel the same way if Noble was black?
