Police Officer's Deed Goes Viral

Trooper Luke Bonin had just left the courthouse in Massachusetts. He was driving along the road when he noticed a woman sitting in the grass on the side of the street. He kept driving then decided to stop at a nearby establishment to make a purchase.

The officer bought two items before turning around to see what the woman was doing. As he parked and exited his car, she knew she was in the wrong for panhandling there. The woman told him she would leave. Although, Bonin let her know he wasn't kicking her out. Instead, he purchased two meals and asked her to pick the one she wanted. She chose one of the meals, and Bonin had lunch with her. He also wanted to learn more about her situation.

Unbeknownst to him, a driver noticed them and took a photo. The photo was posted to an online local community praising the officer. Then, his department found out about it and asked him for the details. He didn't want recognition and was even shy about sharing. Although, they insisted he tell them what happened.

His department then created a social media post about his generosity--sharing that officers aren't always hunting people down to give them tickets.
