Police Horrified When Parents Tell Them Why They Locked Son Out Of House

Parents got a visit from police officers after locking their young son out of the house, and they gave a simple explanation for doing so.

A couple from East Texas are facing child-endangerment charges after they locked their 7-year-old son out of their home because they believed he was possessed by demons. Rendy Jo Wright, 39, and Ronald ‘Keith’ Wright, 56, were arrested and charged before being released from custody on $35,000 bail per person.

Bowie County deputies were alerted to the situation after a neighbor discovered that the 7-year-old boy was not allowed back into his home. The child supposedly spent the majority of the day playing with his neighbor’s son, before leaving at around dinner time. However, ten minutes later the young child came back and told his neighbor that his mother wouldn’t let him in the house.

Confused, the child’s neighbor drove him home and “could see that the family was home,” so “he let [the boy] out of his truck at the residence.” After only a brief time, the child returned to his neighbor for help, revealing that his parents “told home to go away and never to return home again.” After this, the child’s neighbor contacted police.

Upon arriving at the scene, Mr. Wright was quick to defend his and his wife’s actions, claiming that the young boy “would not mind or do what he was told,” before deciding that “he was tired of it.” The couple later revealed that they had discussed their son with a preacher. The preacher told Mr. and Mrs. Wright that their child was possessed by a demon.

It was later confirmed that the parents of the abandoned child were drug users, telling deputies that their use of methamphetamine is “more of a hobby,” rather than an addiction. The pair, if convicted, face 2 to 10 years in prison for their crime.

A similar case from 2010 saw a 15-year-old child tortured and murdered by his sister and her partner, Magalie Bamu and Eric Bikubi, because they believed he was practicing witchcraft. Kristy Bamu, 15, was found drowned in a bathtub in an east London apartment after suffering from several days of torture and abuse. In what has been labelled as a “prolonged attack of unspeakable savagery and brutality.”

Kristy was tortured with metal bars, a chisel, a hammer and a pair of pliers and was denied sleep and food for a number of days. After suffering for days on end, Kristy admitted to being a sorcerer in an attempt to end the abuse, begging to be allowed to die. On Christmas day, Kristy and his two siblings were forced into a bath tub, dowsed in freezing cold water and, in Kristy’s case, drowned.

Kristy’s father, Pierre Bamu, released the following statement following Kristy’s death:

"The pain of Kristy's death is something which cannot be measured or calculated. Kristy was a fine young man, kind and considerate, much loved by his family and friends. We saw that he was becoming a man. We hoped that he would work with me in my carpentry business and one day take over. Kristy was also a role model to his siblings."

Ms. Bamu and Mr. Bikubi have both been jailed for life for their crimes.
