Police Ask Mom Why She Shot Sons - Horrified By Her Answer

A bizarre case is developing in which a woman shot her sons to death. When asked why she did it, she gave a very strange answer.

Rehithile Matjane, a 34-year-old businesswoman from Pretoria, South Africa, has pleaded not guilty to shooting her two sons. However, overwhelming evidence indicates that Matjane is guilty of fatally shooting the two young boys, 2-year-old Alvaro and 6-year-old Keyon’dre, in the head. Ms. Matjane’s defense for her actions is based on a comprehensive and baseless report from a psychiatrist from the Pretorian High Court.

The psychiatrist in question, Professor Ivanov Savov, believes that Ms. Matjane’s actions were “totally out of character” as she was acting “in a state of sane automatism brought about by a short-lasting psychotic depressive episode that was in turn caused by her use of corticosteroids.” It is believed that Ms. Matjane sourced the corticosteroids by repeatedly using her son’s asthma inhaler. If this isn’t disturbing enough, Professor Savov also added that Ms. Matjane was maintaining a lifestyle that revolved around heavy drinking, usage of supplements and random medicine usage.

Ms. Matjane’s murderous rampage was launched around a family home around Hammanskraal and, at the time, Ms. Matjane was allegedly married to another psychiatrist, Dr. Mazelle Matjane. Now, Ms. Matjane believes that she is in control and she is certain that she has always been happily married and in love with her children. During her testimony, Ms. Matjane revealed that she has never consciously thought about hurting her beloved children, even during several difficult months of high-level depression.

It remains unclear who discovered the murdered young boys. Alvaro was first discovered in the front seat of Ms. Matjane’s BMW SUV while his brother was simply left to rot on the driveway. Prior to killing the children, Ms. Matjane had purchased children’s cleaning products, flu medication, food and nappies, indicating that the Pretorian businesswoman’s violence against her children was not premeditated. However, critics have pointed out that Ms. Matjane could have purchased the baby-centric groceries in a foresighted attempt to shore up her future defense.

The testifying psychiatrist further expanded on the confusing situation, adding that: “The incident was so bizarre and out of character that the only explanation for it was that she had acted in a momentary state of severe depression as a reaction to medication.”

Unbelievably, Ms. Matjane is still married to her psychiatrist husband and many online commenters remain unconvinced about the entirety of Ms. Matjane’s story. Nevertheless, Dr. Savov continues to emphasize that Ms. Matjane would never willingly kill her own sons and there is no way that she could have planned a murderous trip in the quiet town of Hammanskraal.

Another witness has recently come forward to testify in the high-profile murder case. Regina van Rooyen, a resident near Hammanskraal, informed the Court that Ms. Matjane had asked her for a firearm or knife that she could use to end her own life. After being pressed by Ms. Van Rooyen, Ms. Matjane later admitted that she wanted to kill herself because she had already made the mistake of murdering her own children.

The controversial trial is still unfolding and online commenters are already outraged at the prospect of Ms. Matjane’s plea being considered.
