Philadelphia Police Department Have Big News For Star Wars Fans

As Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out this week, the Philadelphia Police Department decided to tweet that leaking Star Wars secrets should be illegal.

Although they have reluctantly admitted that it is not a criminal offense, their post was retweeted over 9,000 times. Officers later posed for photographs with fans dressed as stormtroopers, who they pretended they were arresting.

In addition, Reddit administrators have started banning anyone who posts plot information. TheGreatZiegfeld, one of Reddit’s moderators, in an online post “We’ve banned dozens of users so far for this. I think all the mods have had it spoiled for them by now. We’ll do our best to make sure you guys don’t suffer the same fate.”

The move follows threats by a group of rogue Star Wars fans to spoil The Force Awakens on social media unless studio Disney agrees to film the saga’s abandoned “expanded universe” stories.
