People Horrified By What's Pictured Next To Muslims Obama Labeled Moderate

A US-vetted “moderate” Muslim group recently beheaded a child near the Syrian city of Aleppo. Images of Nour al-din al-Zenki, who the U.S. supplied anti-tank missiles to a year ago, have been circulating the internet showing the violent decapitation.

Amnesty International said that the killing “truly plumbed the depths of depravity.” They called for all captured individuals and detainees to be treated humanely, especially the children.

“This appalling incident appears to point to a pattern of abuses by armed groups in northern Syria who have free rein to commit summary killings, abductions and torture without any prospect of being held accountable,” Amnesty’s Middle East director, Philip Luther told The Guardian.

“In addition to condemning such abuses, leaders of armed opposition groups must remove from their ranks any members suspected of committing serious violations of international humanitarian law. It remains the case that the vast majority of people who have died in custody during the last five years have been in the custody of the Syrian authorities.”

Nour al-din al-Zenki leaders say they have arrested those involved in the beheading and will put them to justice.

The Guardian reports that a US State Department spokesperson called the murder “appalling” and said if the group was proven to be connected to the beheading that they would no longer receive backing. Claims of past atrocities lead the U.S. to cut off ties with the group in early 2015.
