People Furious Over News About Kathy Griffin

For many of the people who were already upset about Kathy Griffin's recent antics, this won't come as good news.

The photographer who took the infamous picture of comedian Kathy Griffin holding a fake severed head of President Trump is about to cash in, the Daily Mail reported.

More than 1,000 people have tried to purchase the original print of the picture, according to the photographer, Tyler Shields. He told TMZ that he turned down an art collector’s $150,000 offer because he expects to get a higher bid for the 72-by-52-inch print.

Griffin, who will receive none of the money because Shields owns the rights to the photo, originally said she regretted posing with the bloody image of the president’s supposedly decapitated head. “I sincerely apologize,” she declared in a video. “I’m just now seeing the reaction of these images. I’m a comic; I cross the line. I move the line and then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career. I will continue. … I’m going to ask the photographer to take down the image, and I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far. I made a mistake and I was wrong.”

However, last month, Griffin retracted the apology, arguing that expressing opposition to Trump’s policies is appropriate and that she has a constitutional right to do so. She accused the Trump administration of bullying her. “I didn’t think people would threaten to murder me or mobilize people to murder me,” she told reporters at a news conference. “I don’t think I will have a career after this. (Trump) broke me, and then I was like, ‘No, this isn’t right.' And then I apologized and then I realized what was really happening and then it was a mob mentality.”

On Tuesday, during an interview on the “Sunrise Show” in Australia, host Samantha Armytage asked Griffin: “Even Democrats said it was out of line. I get that comedy is about pushing the boundaries … but do you not agree that that picture holding up a severed head, I know it’s a mask covered in tomato sauce, but do you not accept that was a little bit over the line?”

The comedian shot back: “You’re full of crap. Stop acting like my little picture is more important than talking about the actual atrocities that the president of the United States is committing. So the picture happened, the outrage was ridiculous, I made an apology, and now in light of all the crazy stuff that he and this administration are doing … he’s unhinged.” Griffin used the word “fool” and a number of other derogatory terms to describe Trump.

The controversy prompted CNN to remove Griffin from her gig as one of the hosts of the network’s New Year’s Eve show. Many of the entertainer’s stand-up comedy appearances were canceled. Even CNN’s Anderson Cooper, whom Griffin considered a friend, lashed out at her. “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate,” he tweeted. The comedian recently responded by telling New York Magazine: “Our friendship is over.”
