Pastor Gives Disgusting Reason For Refusing To Bury 93-Year-Old Lifelong Member At Church Cemetery

Pastor Walter F. Houston, of the city’s Fourth Missionary Baptist Church, declined to perform the service for Olivia Blair who died at 93. Blair's daughter, Barbara Day, told KRIV that Houston said Blair hadn’t contributed enough to the church in the years before her death. Day went on to say, "It was like the last insult in the world, there was nothing else that I could do for my mommy but funeralize her in the church that she loved and worshiped all of her life, even as a little girl.

Houston also said that Blair’s membership in the church had slipped 10 years before her death because she hadn't been paying her dues. Although, according to yrone Jacques, who runs the preacher-watchdog site PimpPreacher.com, Houston’s statement is incorrect. According to Jacques, archives show Houston buried Blair’s husband in 2007 with a full church memorial and membership honors. His records prove that the family was still in good standing with the church seven years before Blair died in 2014.

Blair explained, "For the last two years, my mother has been in either a nursing home or she’s been in a hospital. And the last few months, she was in a coma!” Jacques stated that no church representatives went to check on Blair when she was enduring medical issues. He even offered to pay for the funeral and was declined.
