Pastor Blasted For Inflammatory Messages On Church Readerboard

In most towns across the country, residents expect to find pretty simple things on the local church readerboard. A note about services or a corny joke are among the things that generally appear, and it’s generally one of the few things in life that are drama free. That is unless you live in Hood River, Oregon. As WSBT explains, the local pastor has been feeling the heat for using his as a bully pulpit.

Pastor Michael Harrington fashions himself as judge, jury and somewhat of a political pundit. As such, he feels it’s perfectly fine to espouse his views for all to see - whether they want to hear them or not.

"Wake up Christians. Allah is not our God. Muhammad not greater than Jesus," read oner sign.

"Only the Bible is God's word. 'Holy book.' Koran is just another book," read another.

Local residents were not pleased by what they saw, and Harrington has received a ton of backlash.

"I literally had to stop and back up and make sure I saw what I saw, and I was profoundly offended and upset by it," said one local resident.

"I was really annoyed and sad. I am annoyed that in this political season there's a solid case of ugly going on. I think it norms up this kind of behavior like 'oh it's okay to be a bigot now,'" added Hood River mayor, Paul Blackburn.

Harrington doesn’t see what all the fuss is about.

"I'm not politically correct. I've never been politically correct, but I think I'm biblically correct, and that's what matters to me," he said.

In the above statement, Harrington indicates that he thinks, but we’ll consider that to be open for debate.

"It isn't against any particular denomination. It's just the fact that I have taught and will continue to teach that I have one God, one way of salvation and one Bible that's holy," he continued.

Harrington is entitled to his beliefs, but there’s zero reason for him to be blasting them out to the community just because he feels that he’s entitled to do so.
