Passengers Horrified When They See What Airline Employee Does To Man Holding Baby

It's quite rare to see an airline making headlines these days for doing something commendable. Unfortunately, this isn't one of those rare moments. An employee of EasyJet received complaints from a disgruntled flyer after a flight had been delayed for 11 hours. The man, who was carrying a baby, was boarding the plane when he complained to the employee. The employee's response was to punch the man in the face.

EasyJet is a budget airline in Europe. There were a lot of unhappy fliers on Sunday after a flight at a Nice, France airport bound for London was delayed for 11 hours. One passenger complained to an employee, and the employee suddenly lurched forward and punched the passenger in the face.

The passenger was holding a baby at the time. Arabella Arkwright, who was further back in line, caught the attack on film and posted a snapshot on Twitter. "EasyJet employee hitting man holding baby after delay of over," the person wrote.

“The man with the baby ... went over and talked to the Frenchman and the Frenchman didn’t reply, he just smiled and smirked and then whacked this guy on the left side of his face,” Arkwright explained. "It was awful the whole thing. I just can't believe people can behave like that."

According to Arkwright, her husband is the one who restrained the violent employee during the attack. He held the man down until police arrived. The man who was attacked with the baby was initially taken away by authorities, but he was brought back on the flight later for its eventual take-off.

Arkwright reports that the man had a mark on his face from the assault. He has not commented on the incident and remains anonymous. There’s no word on the baby’s condition, but it didn’t appear as though the baby was harmed in the fight.

EasyJet was dismayed over the report of violence, and put out a statement making it clear that it was not an EasyJet employee, but the employee of a subcontractor.

"We had a serious problem with someone of staff from our subcontractor Samsic," said a spokesperson for EasyJet at Nice airport to CNN.

The spokesperson said Samsic reported that the employee had been suspended. "Clearly it is a misconduct situation," said the EasyJet representative. "We apologize strongly about this situation regarding this passenger. There is no reason for a staff member to fight a passenger. EasyJet is very concerned to see this picture and can confirm the person in the photo is not an EasyJet member of staff and they do not work for EasyJet's ground handling agents in Nice."

"We are urgently taking this up with Nice Airport and their special assistance provider Samsic who we understand the person photographed works for," he added.

The airline profusely apologized for the delayed flight, which it says was due to a technical problem. Another aircraft had to be flown over from London in order to accommodate the passengers. "Passengers were provided with updates and refreshment vouchers during this time and the flight landed in London Luton last night," the airline said.
