Parents Take Extreme Measures To Ensure Son Is Not Bullied

Gage Berger is a 6-year-old student in Salt Lake City, Utah who was tired of being picked on at school. The reason is his development has caused his ears to protrude out a bit more than what is considered normal.

Gage said, "I just don't want to be made fun of." His mother, Kallie Berger, said "He just gets really down on himself and he thinks, ‘I’m not good enough.'"

Fortunately, the family was able to receive help from Dr. Steven Mobley. In just two hours, Mobley was able to pin the boy's ears back to achieve a more normal look.

After seeing his ears in the mirror for the first time, Gage said, “Oh my gosh!”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Tracy Pfeifer stated “While in an ideal world children would not be bullied, plastic surgeons know all too well that children with abnormal looking ears are bullied and made fun of in school and this has a tremendous negative impact on their self-esteem."
