Parents Shocked To Discover Close Call On Beach

A family on vacation snapped some photos of their kids playing around on something that had washed up on shore. Then they saw the item on the news-- and it wasn't what they thought it was. They were rattled by the close call they had.

Kelly Gravell, 32, let her kids Erin and Ellis climb around what she thought was an old buoy. She even snapped some photos of the kids with the large item. Little did she know at the time how lucky they were.

Five days later, the beach the family played on was closed. Apparently, the object they found was not a buoy, but a 70-year-old bomb from World War II. Even worse, the bomb was still active.

The bomb squad closed the police so that they could detonate the bomb safely.

"I even made the joke that it was a big bomb at the time but did not think anything of it. It's only afterwards when the reality has set in that we were actually very lucky," said the mom in a post. "We were close to disaster - it's shocking."

That’s a scary close call.
