Panera Bread Fails to Defend Two Cops Killed in Their Cafe

In 2014, Panera Bread has proudly promoted their cafes as gun-free zones. Yet, on Wednesday, officers responded to a call at the Abingdon, Maryland Panera Bread. The call was about 68-year-old David Evans who was creating a disturbance.

An officer walked up to Evans and asked him "How was your day?" Evans only responded by shooting the officer in the head. Soon, a chase of the crazed man started. Even brave citizens helped to track down Evans after he shot and killed another officer while he was fleeing.

Evans said he was targeting cops because he didn't like law enforcement. He was eventually killed by two other officers.

Yet, Panera Bread didn't even bother to defend law enforcement or the unarmed citizens who tried to help. Instead, they repeated their policy by stating “Within our company, we strive to create Panera Warmth. This warmth means bakery-cafes where customers and associates feel comfortable and welcome. To this end, we ask that guns not be brought into this environment unless carried by an authorized law enforcement officer.”

Evans still succeeded in killing two officers. If customers were armed, they may have helped to save the officers lives instead.
