In Order To Pay For Medical Treatment Chinese Woman Tries Selling Herself On The Street

In another example of a disturbing global trend, a woman in China was offering herself for 350,000 yuan ($45,000) by holding a sign and sitting in the middle of the road.

The incident occurred on March 17th, when the 25-year-old woman was seen holding a sign reading she had 10 small tumors in her shoulders, and also had damaged hearing.

Her sign said she hopes to sell herself to give back money to her parents and treat her health issues, according to Chinese media outlet Huanqiu.

It seems the woman was located on a street in Shaxu village of Panyu City on the morning of March 17th.

Her sign also detailed the buyer must pay to cure her disease, and if she is cured then the buyer is not allowed to “do anything illegal to her.” The sign also noted she had found several tumors and also had impaired hearing.

A local woman named Zhang explained to the media that the woman had been sitting in the middle of the street for several hours, and a number of people had given her money.

Zhang remarked: “She keeps making noises with her hand clapper and people are giving her one yuan (13 cents), 10 yuan ($1.30) and 50 yuan ($6.50) notes.”

Zhang also added that the woman had not said anything to anyone, just sat there.

Online posters were not as kind to the woman. Many slammed her for breaking the law and others said she was just scamming people.

One skeptical poster noted: “She claimed she had that sickness without any proof and expects to pay her 350,000 yuan? How can this not be a scam?”

Another poster criticized the sick woman and her crazy idea: “Who would pay that large a sum of money to buy a sick person? I would not give a penny to beggars like her.”
