One Snapchat Post Got These College Students Expelled (Photos)

A white student at Kansas State University sent a photo of her and her friend that she thought was funny. Unfortunately, friends did not agree. The uproar the photo caused blew up in her face.

Paige Shoemaker and Sadie Meier were getting facials when Shoemaker stopped to snap a selfie with her friend. The two women wore facial masks made of black mud, Shoemaker added the caption 'Feels good to finally be a N-gga' and sent it to friends on snapchat.

Shoemaker claims she initially sent the photo privately to friends, but someone leaked it. Before long, the photo was posted to Facebook.

“In this era, why do we need to keep educating people on a university that’s diverse,” said student Lani Sandoval asked. “Do you know what I mean? There’s no reason to keep educating people and for her to actually post a picture like that.”

“Kansas State University was tagged today in social media posts that were racist in nature,” the university responded in a statement. “The posts were immediately removed from university accounts. Kansas State University does not condone this inappropriate behavior and expects the K-State family to adhere to our principles of community.”

After an uproar, Shoemaker was expelled for writing the caption and sending the photo.

“We never intended for the picture to offend anyone,” Shoemaker wrote in a formal apology on her Facebook page. “We only meant for it to be taken in a fun way.”

It’s hard for people to take racism in a fun way, as the girls found out.
