Once People Noticed Who Was Next To Malia, These Photos Went Viral (Photos)

Former President Barack Obama's eldest daughter has been spotted out and about in her new hometown. As Malia Obama takes a gap year between high school and college, she's living in New York City and interning at the Weinstein film company. She's spent a couple of nights out with friends, including one young man, which sparked a few rumors. According to reports, though, the two are just friends.

On Wednesday evening, with her Secret Service agents following close behind, Malia went out for a walk with a man identified by TMZ as Rob Franklin. The 23-year-old Stanford University graduate works for the website 'Artsy'. Malia met Franklin at a Men's Fashion Week event last month.

This isn't the first time the two have been spotted out together, but friends of the young Obama girl say there's nothing going on except friendship. They insist the relationship is platonic.

The couple wasn't alone; another female friend of Malia went along with them for the casual walk. But you never know; sparks might be flying yet. At least one witness said that the two looked like they were having a great time, and Malia even looked a little nervous a couple of times.

Former President Obama says he feels 'pretty relaxed' about his daughters dating, thanks to the Secret Service. "They've had Secret Service. There's only so much these guys can do," Mr. Obama quipped.

On Thursday evening, Miss Obama went with friends to the trendy B Bar & Grill in Manhattan. The two sat at a booth and split some chips and salsa in a booth.

After dinner, the two friend went on a stroll through the city streets and chatted. Pictures of the two show them smiling and laughing and having a great time.

After watching Malia grow up in the White House, it’s nice to see her ‘blossoming’ and venturing out on her own.
