The Juice On Being Loose: 'Nothing's Changed'

OJ Simpson is now a free man. Just after midnight on Sunday, the 70-year-old man known as The Juice was officially released from the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.

Simpson was granted parole over the summer after serving nine years of his sentence for a robbery gone awry in Las Vegas, and anticipation was high as to when he would actually be seeing the light of day. Based on the fact that it happened in the middle of the night, we can safely assume the facility was doing its best to avoid a media circus.

As the Telegraph shares, that didn’t stop reporters from trying to get a glimpse of Simpson - or to find out where he was going next. As word leaked out that the Juice was loose, the prison was quickly contacted for some leads.

"I don't know where he was headed," said prison spokesperson Brooke Keast.

Undeterred, reporters would eventually track him down. He was spotted in the back of a white SUV in Amargosa Valley about five hours later. As you would expect, cameras were in tow for those that tracked him down.

“Man, how in the … Have you all been … you all stalking me?” Simpson says at one point.

We have a feeling that he already knew the answer to that question before asking it, but he at least had to put it out there. A reporter would try to get him to chat, but Simpson didn’t have all that much to share.

“I’m in a car for the last five hours, so how do I know how it feels to be out?” he replied to one question.

“I’ve been in nowhere U.S.A. for the last nine years doing nothing. Nothing has changed in my life. What do you expect?” he said in response to another question.

As for where he was off to next, Simpson wasn’t about to let the cat out of the bag.

“None of your business,” he said.

Simpson’s run-in with the press would come to a close, but the disgraced star was pretty polite about things.

“God bless, take care guys,” Simpson said. “Yeah, nothing’s changed.”

Reports have been making the rounds that Simpson hopes to fade out of the spotlight now that he’s a free man, but that hope will likely go unanswered. There remains a tremendous amount of fascination with him in the mind of the public, and you need to look no further than the attention two separate shows about Simpson received last year.

A true crime style story dubbed ‘The People vs. O.J. Simpson’ relived the so-called trial of the century for a new generation. ‘OJ: Made In America’ provided the documentary treatment to his entire rise and fall.

We can expect him to continue to receive an extraordinary amount of attention, especially if he goes through with a much-anticipated ‘tell-all’ interview. Maybe then he’ll have his hope of exiting stage left fulfilled, but there will still be plenty of whispers and stares whenever he’s spotted out in public.
