Officials Issue Strange Warning Following Recent Terror Attacks

After several attacks that appear to have been terror-related were carried out in the United States on Saturday, it has the country rattled about Islamic extremism. One Muslim organization is worried that Muslims may be harmed in retaliatory attacks.

A spokesperson for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) appeared at a press conference in Minnesota to voice concerns about the Muslim community being in danger. CAIR Minnesota executive director Jaylani Hussein says the Muslim community condemns acts of violence and believes them to be un-Islamic. He also said the stabbings had not yet been linked to radical Islamic terrorism.

Hussein was concerned, however, about anti-Muslim sentiments in Minnesota. “We are also concerned about the potential backlash to this community. We understand in St. Cloud there is more anti-Muslim organizing, and we hope that they will not use this instance as a way to continue to polarize, divide, and spread fear in our communities,” Hussein said. “This is a tragedy that affects all people in St. Cloud, and this is an opportunity for our communities to come together.”

The mall stabber was identified as 22-year-old Somali immigrant Dahir Adan. Survivors of the attacks report that he shouted 'Allah Akbar' before stabbing nine people in the Crossroads Center mall and being shot dead by an off-duty police officer. Adan had jihadist ties and an ISIS news outlet claimed he was one of their soldiers.

Though CAIR representatives claim to be anti-terrorism, the group has ties to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. They've been funding Hamas and are considered unindicted co-conspirators by the FBI. They have also been deemed a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates.
