Officer Uses Questionable Force To Subdue Skateboarder, Now He Wants Answers

New video footage has surfaced showing a New York City Police officer putting a 22-year-old skateboarder in a banned chokehold. Yibin Mu shared a video of his arrest on Monday.

Mu is flat on the ground where the officer sits on top of him, pepper sprays him and tries to handcuff him. The incident took place on Sunday around 5 p.m. Mu can be heard saying "What did I do wrong? What is my crime?" repeatedly. An unidentified person is heard saying "Here we go again."

Mu wrote, "I'm tired of abusive cops." The NYPD has banned chokeholds for over two decades, although it was used in the July 2014 death of Staten Island resident Eric Garner. On Facebook, Mu thought he was going to be questioned by the officer about skateboarding in the area.

Mu shared that the officer tried to grab his skateboard saying "You're never getting this back." Mu refused to sit down and ignored the officer. Columbus Circle has six signs letting skaters know that there's no skating allowed in the area.

Mu was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and failure to comply with posted signs.
