Officer Pulls Frantic Mother Over, Realizes Something Is Wrong

Michigan mother, Rhonda McArthur, ran a red light and she soon saw a cop car flashing its lights behind her. Knowing what she did, she pulled over.

Officer Nick Mitchell came up to her window and noticed her son looked sick. He asked if he was okay. McArthur was rushing her 10-year-old son to the first hospital she could find, as he was suffering a near-fatal asthma attack. Mitchell saw that the boy was "gasping for air."

Yet, if she hadn't pulled over, she wouldn't have received the help. It turns out she was only 10 miles away from running out of gas. Mitchell then called an ambulance, but one was not available at the moment. So, he put him in the police car to get him to the hospital as soon as possible.

In the meantime, a firefighter arrived with oxygen for the child and rode with them to the hospital. They got there right on time, and the child is expected to make a full recovery.

Rhonda told Officer Mitchell "Thank you for being empathetic. Thank you for being there when I didn’t think I needed anybody, but I did."
