Officer Kicked Out of College Class for Legally Carrying Firearm

A Darton State College professor recently kicked out a cop, who was a student, because he said his gun made him feel uncomfortable.

Darton's school policy does not allow guns in classrooms, but it makes an exception for law enforcement. The school did confirm the incident and issued an apology.

In a statement, interim provost and vice president for academic and student affairs Thomas Ormand wrote, "Darton State College is appreciative for the service of our law enforcement and welcome them as students on our campus. We have apologized to the officer for our misunderstanding when he attended class on our campus, and we regret this happened. We have met with the faculty and staff involved to reiterate the Georgia Law and Darton Policy."
