Officer Approaches Veteran And His Family Who Were Sleeping In The Car, Encounter Quickly Goes Viral

Officer David Natt had two options: he could throw the family of four he found sleeping in their car out of the park or he could choose compassion and help them.

He decided to help, maybe it’s because the Eugene, Oregon police department‘s motto is “Protect. Serve. Care.”

According to the Independent Journal Review, the Wood family moved from Alaska to Eugene, Oregon and and didn’t have immediate housing. They wanted to be careful with the money they had since they had another kid on the way, so they decided to sleep in their car until they could find permanent housing.

It was officer Natt that finally convinced the father, Robert Wood, to accept his assistance. The two had both spent time serving in the Marine Corp. Natt paid for the family to spend a few nights at a local motel and told the family that University Fellowship Church helps families like them.

The Wood family accepted the help and found a place to live soon thereafter. Wood took to Facebook to express his gratitude.

“There r wonderful, caring people out there. When u r treated to a uplifting experience like this, don’t feel guilt, pay it forward when u r able!” stated Leslie Reed.
