Obamas Face Backlash Over Their Post-White House Home Purchase

Many have wondered what's in store for the President and the First Lady when they retire from the White house. For years, many speculated on whether the family would go back to their adopted hometown, Chicago. Some new real estate purchases indicate that the Obamas are planning to become bi-costal instead.

The New York Post reports that the Obama family has purchased two homes. One is a mansion in a world class golf course community in Rancho Mirage, California. The price tag on the home is $4.25 million. Two years ago, there were rumors that the first family were in escrow for the home, but the White House denied it.

The Obamas are also leasing a $4.3 million home in Washington, D.C. The gorgeous 8,200 square foot home has nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms. This is where the family plans to live most of the year.

The Obamas may not be done with their real estate deals-- they also reportedly purchased a vacation home in the president's home state. The couple were looking at the beachfront home made famous in 'Magnum, P.I.,' the 80's television series starring Tom Selleck.
