Nurse Shares Scary Warning After Her Daughter Gets Frighteningly Ill - Missed The Signs

Being that she’s a nurse, Natalie Walsh is able to keep things in perspective when her 7-year-old daughter gets sick. However, this time something was different.

Her daughter went from having a simple headache to spiking a major temperature, and Walsh knew she needed medical attention right away. As Yahoo shares, she’s taken to social media to share her scary tale.

Walsh would eventually find out that her daughter had Lyme disease, but it took doctors quite a while to figure out what the problem was.

“So my healthy baby girl woke up Tuesday am with a headache around 5 am no fever just her head hurt more so on one side but nothing was there when I examined her. By 1030 am she was unable to walk her fever was almost 104 and nothing touched it,” Walsh wrote. “I rechecked her head bc she kept complaining and found a quarter size lump on the right side of her head that by 4 pm had become the ugliest looking wound I have ever seen. I was told at first it was a spider bite she was treated and sent home.”

That would prove to be an incorrect diagnosis, and her daughter’s symptoms worsened when they got home. It got to the point that her daughter was screaming in pain, and Walsh knew she had to rush her to another facility.

“Then Finally we had a diagnosis around 11 pm while it was not a typical presentation of a bulls eye bite and her symptoms were a little off she has lymes disease. She got her first does of cefuroxime late last night and thank god this morning is the first time in days I saw her walk by herself eat, drink and is talking my ear off again about everything I am so thankful we came to the right place,” Walsh writes.

Sounds like Walsh and her daughter dodged a bullet - thanks to Walsh’s insistence on seeking out treatment elsewhere. All she’s worried about now is her daughter making a full recovery, but she wants other parents to be aware in case their child comes down with similar symptoms.

Parents must always keep in mind that they are their children’s biggest advocates, and that there’s nothing wrong with pressing the issue with doctors when things don’t seem right.

“I wanted to share so maybe we could help maybe prevent this from happening to anyone else. Lyme disease is on the rise and the type natasha has attacked her nervous system. I just ask to please take precautions to prevent ticks with your children and yourself,” Walsh’s post continued.

“I never saw a tick on natasha so even if u don't see one check their skin for bites and know this is something in our local area and so scary. I don't know what would have happened to her had I not made the drive to have this team of highly educated minds figure her out and get her on the road to recovery. Heres a pic of her bite in case it can help anyone else.”
