North Carolina Man Scolded For Wearing Shorts To Court (PHOTOS)

Would you show up in court for manslaughter charges wearing shorts and a t-shirt?

Probably not a good idea...as a judge in North Carolina decided to postpone a hearing in the deaths of two young children after a defendant wore shorts and a t-shirt to court Thursday.

His choice of casual clothing earned 28-year-old Matthew Deans the scorn of a judge when he showed up in court on charges of killing a newborn and a 2-year-old in an auto accident.

"Why are you going to show up to court dressed like that based on these charges?" the judge said.

Deans just glanced down at his outfit and responded quietly to the judge, according to a local TV station. He is looking at two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed.

Last summer, Deans slammed into the back of a vehicle being driven by the Eddings' family, and killed 2-year-old Dobbs Eddings

Hadley Eddings, Dobbs’ mom, was 8-months pregnant at the time, so doctors attempted an emergency C-section procedure. Tragically, the infant died three days later.

Charlotte pastor Gentry Dobbs II, told a local station, his family is trying to cope with the loss: "We're mad at the loss. But we know God is good and has a plan and we believe that."
