Nicole Eggert Went To Police To File Sexual Abuse Report Against Former Co-Star Scott Baio

Nicole Eggert is taking her accusations against her former co-star, Scott Baio, to the next level. According to the actress, Baio sexually abused her when she was a minor.

Now, she's filed former charges against Baio, and police are launching an investigation. According to Baio's spokesperson, the actor is glad that the matter is being investigated and is confident that he will be vindicated.

The #MeToo movement has given a lot of people strength to come forward and open up about inappropriate sexual behavior. Eggert claims that after years of silence, she was finally motivated to share her story about Scott Baio molesting her on the set of their sit-com.

The abuse allegedly went on throughout her teen years, and she claims Baio had sex with her when she was a minor.

Baio was starring in the show 'Charles in Charge' through the 1980's, playing a male nanny. Eggert was cast as one of the children in his care, and even though she was 14-years-old at the time, she claims that Baio began acting sexually inappropriate toward her. Baio would have been 26.

Eggert says the inappropriate behavior even occurred on the set in front of others, and went on until she was 17. She says at that age, Baio seduced her and they had sex.

She first announced the alleged abuse on Twitter, when she wrote. “Ask @scottbaio what happened in his garage at his house when I was a minor. Creep."

She went with her attorney, Lisa Bloom, and her former sit-com brother, Alexander Polinsky, to file the police report. Polinsky, who was 13 when he joined the cast of the show, says he witnessed some inappropriate behavior.

“It took Nicole a long time to come to the decision that she wanted to let the world know what Scott Baio did to her and it’s been very freeing for her finally talk about what happened. Nicole is very happy that the report is done and she looks forward to seeing how they handle the investigation," said David Weintraub, Eggert’s representative.

Baio has admitted he's treated women poorly in the past; in fact, he once based a reality show around it. In the 2008 VH1 show, 'Scott Baio is 45... and Single', and the second season, 'Scott Baio is 46.... and Pregnant', Baio works through his issues with women with a personal life coach.

Baio meets with many of his former girlfriends, listens to them as they tell him how badly he treated them, and apologizes to them.

The therapeutic journey was supposed to help Baio move on in a healthy relationship with his then-girlfriend, Renee. After working through his commitment issues, he finally proposes to Renee and is ready to become a husband and father.

According to Baio, he never molested Eggert as a child. He admits they had sex one time, but says it was when she was 18 years old, and that she was the one who initiated it. “She wanted me to be her first so that she will be good for her boyfriend,” he said on 'Good Morning America'.

In response to the news that Eggert filed a police report, representatives for Baio said, "We’ve been demanding since last year that Nicole Eggert bring her story to the authorities. It’s good that she finally has, even if it’s part of a publicity campaign. Perhaps she can explain to them her ever-changing story.”
