NFL Players Join Protest, Kneel During National Anthem - Get Bad News

The Miami Dolphins took a stand against the national anthem by kneeling for it earlier this month. In Sunday's game, considerably fewer players kneeled in protest.

Miami Dolphins Aaron Foster (29) wide receiver Kenny Stills (10) and free safety Michael Thomas (31) all kneeled for the national anthem at Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. The kneeling was part of a continued protest by professional athletes against the 'Star Spangled Banner' in attempts to bring attention to perceived injustices against people of color in the U.S.

Jelani Jenkins, who originally participated in the protest on September 12, did not join his team mates kneeling. He stood for the salute, despite having earlier said he would “stand united with my teammates and the Miami Dolphins organization during the national anthem.”

Fans are having mixed reactions to the protests. Some threaten to cancel their season tickets, while others applaud the players for exercising their First Amendment rights. One Florida police union is suggesting that police put a stop to escorts until players stand for the anthem.
