New Fight Club App Stirs Controversy, Encourages Violence

Rumblr is an app that has been described as a "Tinder for Fight Club." In the film, men are led by Brad Pitt in setting up secret fights. Rumblr allows users to arrange fights based on their location.

In addition, it has a chat function that lets opponents trash talk each other along with an interactive map showing where the fights will take place so people can go watch.

The app creator's website reads “Rumblr is an app for recreational fighters to find, meet, and fight other brawl enthusiasts nearby. You don't need to fight to use Rumblr. With Rumblr Explore, anyone can browse and attend fights close by that other Rumblr users have arranged - all for free.”

Apple's App Store rejected the app as it has strict rules about apps that encourage violence. So, the app will be released as a web app and has already attracted 300,000 interested users.

Rumblr's developers Matt Henderson and Jack Kim, said, “We've been recreational fighters our entire lives and were tired of the inefficiencies that exist when trying to find someone to fight. Rumblr alleviates the trouble fighters have when searching for suitable opponents. We were actually rejected by Apple's App Store so we have decided to transition Rumblr into a public, globally accessible web application.”

The app also lets the user build profiles of themselves including weight and ability.
