New 'Dear David' Conspiracy Theories Will Make Your Skin Crawl

When a popular New York City-based artist allegedly began to see the ghost of a small boy in his apartment, his story instantly went viral. Adam Ellis initially introduced the ghost, who he refers to as David, to his Twitter account when he told his followers his terrible nightmares were becoming a reality. After snapping and sharing images of what appears to be a disfigured boy standing at the end of his bed, the internet instantly went wild with theories as to the origins of the ghost and whether he was actually a hoax.

After a disfigured boy from Mr. Ellis’ dreams began to appear to him while he was awake, Mr. Ellis decided to capture the incidents, sharing them to his Twitter account. The footage captured by Mr. Ellis shows objects moving themselves across his coffee table, leaving Mr. Ellis “paralyzed with fear”.

After months of peace, Mr. Ellis had another disturbing dream, where he was warned that he was only allowed to ask David two questions, asking each question by beginning “Dear David”; if a third question was asked, he would suffer horrific consequences. After Mr. Ellis revealed this information to his Twitter fans, the “Dead David” phenomenon was born.

After Mr. Ellis was awoken to 15 loud bangs coming from his ceiling around Thanksgiving, he knew he couldn’t disregard the strange occurrence. The following day, Mr. Ellis was heading out for his morning bagel when he noticed a pile of debris that had accumulated directly under a man hatch that lead to the roof of the building.

“At that point, bagels were the last thing on my mind,” Mr. Ellis wrote on his Twitter account. “I went back upstairs and grabbed the pole. I set my camera on the coat wardrobe at the top of the stairs and hit record, just to make sure it would be caught on video if a demon burst out of the hatch.”

The creepy video, leaving viewers on edge, showed only a small object falling out of the man hatch onto the stairs at Mr. Ellis’ feet. Mr. Ellis later posted a photo of the object, revealing that a small, faded leather shoe had fallen out of the roof.

Mr. Ellis immediately contacted his landlord, telling him he was certain that something was in the crawlspace. However, his landlord had nothing to report after he discovered the space completely empty except for a tiny green marble.

“it was smooth and shiny and at first, I thought it was an old piece of candy, but it was cold and too heavy to be candy,” Mr. Ellis wrote later on Twitter. “After a second I realized it was a marble.”

While Mr. Ellis has received plenty of backlash from followers of the ‘Dear David’ thread claiming that the ghost story is a hoax, he has a number of social media users speculating as to the story behind David.

“I have a theory on Dear David,” wrote Twitter user Jolly Waffles. “What if David was playing marbles (since it was a popular game back then) up in the crawlspace in the 1900s and falls out of the crawlspace, falling down the stairs, putting a dent in his head.”
