Mysterious Clumps Showed Up Everywhere Overnight - Officials Reveal What They Are

Substantial downpours in the state of Texas lead to roads that were essentially impassable due to massive flooding. It took quite awhile for the water to recede as well, but when they finally did, area residents were stunned by what was left behind in some areas. Specifically, there were piles of worms all over Eisenhower State Park in Denison, Texas,

As ABC News shares, rangers were simply checking on the back roads throughout the massive park to assess the damage when they made an absolutely fascinating discovery. There were piles of worms in the middle of the road, and they all seemed to be lined up in a specific formation.

“We’re still puzzled why they decided to line up in the middle of the road. Even our biologist doesn’t know why they’re spaced so well and in the line,” he explained.

The massive park stretches for about 450 acres, so there’s a pretty good chance the worms were simply disrupted from their slumber underground. The flood waters were so strong that they forced from their normal stomping grounds, but they remarkably managed to stay together - and or get back near each other as quickly as possible. Another theory making the rounds is that the heavy rains sounded like predators, so they quickly moved and clumped up together to avoid them.

After the flood waters receded, you would think that the worms would hightail it off the pavement and back to their normal habitat, but it seems like they liked where they were. They hung out for about two days before taking off, but not before leaving behind their manure.

“We were all fascinated by what happened. It was pretty entertaining to watch the worms do their thing,” Herman continued.

No other state parks in Texas reported a similar phenomenon in the wake of the floods, so it’s believed that all of the worm clumping took place in Eisenhower State Park alone.
