Muslims Plan To Build Mosque - Then They See Who's Coming

Muslims in Newton County, Georgia laid out plans to build a mosque, cemetery and school. The city council met and were planning a vote to lift the town's ban on building new places of worship. Plans all came to an abrupt halt, however, when an armed, right-wing militia showed up.

The organization calls itself 'III% Security Force' and describes itself as 'a civilian volunteer organization.' The group's mission, according to their Facebook page, says, "We will defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. We will guarantee freedom and liberty as described in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitutions of the State of Georgia, the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights, so help us God."

Some 30 heavily armed members of SFIII% stormed the town center in protest of the meeting that would allow the Muslim building plans to go forward. According to Jim Stachowiak, one of the SFIII% protesters, the building plans are 'a declaration of war against United States of America. Their ultimate goal is to impose Sharia law.'

Another member, Philip Morris, said, "The Koran is nothing but hate speech."

Commanding officer Chris Hill insists, "We're not here to intimidate. You're just seeing two different rights being exercised at the same time."

Counter-protesters lined up quietly with signs across the street. Among them, Linda Allen, said to reporters, "There’s nothing American about this. These people live in this country; they are U.S. citizens or looking to be US citizens."

The town continues to be divided on the Muslim population's place in the community.
