Musician Hears Woman Singing His Song 44 Years After Writing It - Breaks Down Crying

Led Zeppelin’s 'Stairway to Heaven' is arguably one of the greatest classic rock songs to come out of the 1970s. At a recent event honoring the group for their lifetime achievements, the band was moved to tears during a performance.

Nancy Wilson of the group Heart performed the famous 1971 song as members of Led Zeppelin looked on. Robert Plant, the band's front man, began crying. He broke down in particular due to the drumming of Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin’s late drummer John Bonham.

The powerful performance was broadcast on CBS at the annual Kennedy Center Honors. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were in the audience, along with a number of other celebrities who were swaying and bobbing to the music.

The song raised a lot of controversy over the years, mainly because it was one of the first songs that made media attention for allegedly having 'Satanic messages' hidden in it. Playing the record backwards was said to reveal the messages. Today, the claim is largely dismissed as silly. But such nonsense claims have not managed to put a damper on this masterpiece of music.
