Mother Whose Daughter Horrifically Burned To Death In Oven Just Found Out Who's Responsible

When Fredrick Price went to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment complex on Sterlingshire, Houston, on November 19, 2015, he never expected to be greeted with the news of the death of one-year-old J’Zyra Thompson. J’Zyra, along with three other young children, all under the age of five. The children had been left alone in the mother, Racquel Thompson’s, apartment when the terrible incident took place.

Having not heard anything from ex-girlfriend Racquel or his children in months, Mr. Price visited the apartment where he learned of the death of the young girl, who Price confessed, could have been his daughter: “she was a cute little baby, I just didn’t know if that was my daughter or not”. Although it is not entirely clear what happened, it appears that two of the children, both three years old and fathered by Mr. Price, placed J’Zyra in the oven and turned it on, while Ms. Thompson was out collecting a pizza with her current boyfriend. Mr. Price informed officials that his two children were living with Ms. Thompson after he was made redundant two months prior. Child Protective services expressed their concerns regarding Ms. Thompson and her boyfriend, who told them she would often leave the children to their own devices when she drove her boyfriend to work. Mr. Price, furious over the lack of responsibility and care from Ms. Thompson, stated that “…someone should have been here or I should have gotten a phone call, come and get my children.” Mr. Price told investigators that he had been attempting to contact Ms. Thompson repeatedly, both by telephone and Facebook.

Although Ms. Thompson attempted CPR on the one-year-old girl, she was too late, with Detective Ronda Pemberton confirming that paramedics found the girl dead upon arrival, suffering from horrific burns. The three surviving children were put into emergency Foster Care and Mr. Price Informed Eye Witness News he was seeking custody of his two children. It remains unclear if Ms. Thompson has been convicted of any counts of criminal negligence.
