Mother Sentenced To 80 Years Verbally Attacks Judge In Court

A 60-year-old woman from San Diego has been sentenced to 80 years imprisonment after being convicted of shooting both her husband, Reuben Johnson, and her 14-year-old daughter, Aaliyah. After killing her family members, the murderous mother and wife, Regina Johnson, spent three days concocting a story before calling police.

However, despite being convicted of 2 counts of second-degree murder, Ms. Johnson had no intention of staying quiet during her sentencing. "How can you sit there and say that I killed my daughter?" yelled Ms. Johnson. "Judge you are not a fair judge. You are not. You talk about the evidence -- you don’t even know what the evidence truly was."

According to Ms. Johnson, the only person she had killed was her husband, because he had murdered their daughter. "Aaliyah, you were my whole life. I loved you so much, but on that day when your dad took you away from me, I snapped. I took his life," stated Ms. Johnson in a posthumous letter to her daughter.

"Why am I guilty of taking your life? This court has never said why,” continued Ms. Johnson. “How can you convict a mother for taking a daughter’s life? There’s not one ounce of evidence that would answer that question.”

However, Nicole Rooney, the Deputy District Attorney, tells Fox 5 an entirely different story. According to Rooney, there is no physical evidence that backs up Ms. Johnson’s story. Rooney cites cell phone records and reassembled bullet trajectories as the main pieces of evidence used by the prosecution.

A subsequent report from Fox 5 claims that Ms. Johnson shot her daughter in the head after a shower and later killed her husband when he witnessed the scene after returning home from an appointment.

According to Rooney, Ms. Johnson then “left to rot for three days while she thought of a way to get away with it…At the end of the day, she came up with a story she could live with."

Court testimonies indicate that, in the leadup to the tragic incident, Mr. Johnson had been worried about his wife’s mental state. “He still loved her, he still cared about her and he was worried about her. He took her to the doctor, he took her to the hospital," emphasized Rooney. "Ultimately he paid the price for it and a horrible price."

Mr. Johnson’s older sister, Debra Spinner, has condemned Ms. Johnson as a murderous psychopath. "Our family accepted you with open arms, and this is what you do? There are no winners. Regina you have destroyed three families to which there are no do-overs," Spinner told the Court. "As for Aaliyah, mothers protect not kill."

The vast majority of online commenters have agreed with Ms. Johnson’s conviction. “How do you protect someone by shooting them in the back of the head and then go about your daily routine for three days," wrote ‘Gunner’ on Fox 5. “I guess it was nothing to step over their bodies to get some chicken from fridge.”
