Mother Warns Other Parents After CVS Medication Mistake

A CVS Pharmacy in Delano, MN has managed to fumble two prescriptions issued to the same family, and the mom wants to know why. According to Fox 9, the family received a wrongly-labeled prescription the first time, and the pharmacy followed that up by issuing expired medicine on another visit.

Vanessa Gilbertson is a mother of three that gets her fair share of prescriptions filled, and she’s having a hard time understanding how the pharmacy made the errors in the first place. She would receive what she thought was a prescription for Amoxicillin for her one daughter that turned out to be Ibuprofen, and receive a batch of expired medicine for her five-month-old daughter not too long after that.

“It's like my trust is completely gone,” she explains.

The pharmacist apologized, remedied the situation, but the mistakes could have led to some serious consequences. CVS has released a statement on the matter.

“Prescription errors are a very rare occurrence, but if one does occur we determine what happened in order to prevent it from occurring again. We have taken corrective action at the pharmacy and remain committed to ensuring that prescriptions are dispensed safely and accurately to our patients," the statement reads in part.
