Mother Takes Photo Of Her Husband Holding Their Sick Son - Big Mistake

Social media has forever changed the way we communicate, but it opens up the potential for all sorts of problems when not managed correctly. As the Independent Journal Review reports, that’s the situation this mom from Arizona now finds herself in, but it sounds like she’s refusing to take the blame for it.

Heather Whitten shared a pic of her husband and son on social media, and it rubbed many people the wrong way. The pic was of her husband in the shower with the couple’s son, who was pretty sick at the time.

“There is nothing sexual or exploitative about this image. I was taken aback by how many people missed the story or didn't even look past the nudity to find the story,” she says.

While that certainly appears to be the case, she still found herself in trouble with the law for posting a potentially exploitive image.

“The police right away stated that they were not going to take any action against us and that their case would be closed immediately. The investigator from DCS, however, spent the next few months generally trying to have me seen as an immodest, neglectful and abusive mother based on the single interview she had with me," she continued.

A Department of Child Safety investigator provided a much different take, and her stance provides some food for thought for Heather.

“[Heather] neglected to supervise her children by allowing their images to be online and so put them at an unreasonable risk of harm,” the investigator said.

Quite simply, while it’s pretty clear it was a powerful moment for Heather to see her husband comforting her sick child, she could have used a bit more common sense here. There was zero reason to share it on social media, and why the scene needed to be captured in a photo to begin with is open for debate as well.
