Mother, Son Want To Be Together Romantically And Refuse To Apologize For It - Just Got Bad News

For most people, a sexual relationship with a close relative is stomach-churning. For some close relatives who meet as adults, however, the attraction may be overwhelming. That's what one estranged mother and son, now lovers, want everyone to know.

Monica Mares gave up her son for adoption when he was a baby. The child grew up and sought out his birth mother. When Caleb Peterson met Mares, something unexpected happened: sparks began to fly.

When they first met, Mares and Peterson expected to have a normal mother-son relationship. He went to live with her and his half-siblings in her motor home. It wasn't long before they both started getting what Mares calls 'crazy' feelings.

Before long, the two admitted the unusual feelings towards each other. Then they talked about dating. They progressed to romantic kissing, and it wasn't long before they started having sex.

"He is the love of my life and I don't want to lose him. My kids love him, my whole family does. Nothing can come between us not courts, or jail, nothing," said Mares.

The two have been threatened with up to 18 months in jail if they continue their relationship. They're fighting for their right to be together and are hoping incest between consenting adults will be decriminalized.

The two are trying to raise awareness for Genetic Sexual Attraction, the strong attraction that commonly occurs between close relatives who did not grow up together.

"This whole case is about whether I have the right to love somebody and I sure as hell have the right to love Monica," said Peterson. "You can't tell me who to love, who not to love."
